Jazz Teaching & Salons
Jazz education, intimate salons, and cultural gatherings curated by Jasmine Chen.
Since 2020, Jasmine Chen has been sharing jazz through small-group vocal teaching, jazz culture workshops, student showcases, and carefully curated salon gatherings in Shanghai. Her teaching and salon work bring people closer to jazz not only as music, but as conversation, memory, improvisation, and community.
JAZZ Study Society
In 2020, Jasmine founded JAZZ Study Society / JAZZ爵士乐研习社 to popularize jazz culture and guide both professional and non-professional learners. Her programs welcome anyone who wishes to explore jazz vocal technique, listening ability, expressive interpretation, improvisation, and the joy of music.
Jasmine’s teaching includes jazz vocal small-group classes, choir-style workshops, cultural salons, and performance coaching. More than 30 course editions have been completed, with over 160 students graduating or finishing course cycles under her guidance.

From the Classroom to the Stage
Students are encouraged to grow beyond the classroom and step onto real stages. Graduation showcases and vocal concerts have been held at venues such as JZ Club Shanghai, where ordinary people discover courage, self-expression, and the joy of standing under the spotlight.

Afternoon Jazz Salon
Jasmine hosts regular Jazz Salon gatherings as intimate cultural events that combine live performance, conversation, wine, film, history, and thoughtful dialogue. These evenings bring together musicians, podcast hosts, producers, documentary directors, writers, and audiences in warm, cross-disciplinary exchange.
The 7th Afternoon Jazz Salon took place on April 11, 2026 at 12 Space in Shanghai’s Tonglefang. The theme was “Jazz and Image / Jazz and Film,” and the discussion centered on international documentary films such as Buena Vista Social Club, Shanghai Jazz, and Shanghai Girl.
“For Jasmine, the Afternoon Jazz Salon is not only a performance. It is a gentle but real form of connection.”

Music as Connection
Music connects people through shared feeling, memory, and story. Jazz represents freedom, innovation, inclusiveness, and improvisation. Jasmine’s gatherings invite audiences to listen, speak, remember, and share stories together.
The salons bring together people from different fields who share curiosity, warmth, and a desire for real human connection through music.
